June Blitz Build Sponsored by Jimmy Jacobs Custom Homes
Jimmy Jacobs, owner of Jimmy Jacobs Custom Homes, has once
again agreed to sponsor the construction of a Habitat for Humanity
home in Georgetown. This year the home will be built at Old Mill
Village, a 20 home Habitat development in the heart of Georgetown.
"It is an exciting partnership when a for-profit builder partners with Habitat to build an affordable
home for another family in Williamson County," said Debbie Hoffman, Executive Director of
HFHWC. The build is scheduled for mid-June and is anticipated to be completed in one week.
Lowe's Becomes Lead Sponsor of Women Build House in Round Rock
Lowe's has committed funds, volunteers and materials to build a HFHWC home for a
partner family in Round Rock. This commitment allows HFHWC to begin the construction
in March 8 with volunteers from Texas State University. Individual women or groups are
encouraged to sign up to work on Friday or Saturday of each week through June 2008 on
this house. Construction skills are not necessary as trained volunteers will lead others as
the takes shape in the coming weeks. Community partners
and supporters for this project are
still needed to make Rose and her girl’s home a reality. For more information

Five More Families Identified for HFHWC Homes in 2008
The HFHWC Board of Directors approved the construction of five more homes for
five families in the second half of 2008. Two families will purchase their low-cost
homes in Georgetown, two in Taylor and one in Round Rock. Construction of each home
begins after the partner family has accumulated 150 - 200 "sweat equity" hours through
classroom instruction on financial management and home care.
ATT
provides free internet service for 5 Round Rock families
ATT will partner with Habitat for Humanity of Williamson County to bring technology resources
to five low-income Round Rock families. Through a unique collaboration with One Economy Corp.,
Habitat for Humanity affiliates and regional low-income housing providers, AT&T and the AT&T
Foundation — the corporate philanthropy organization of AT&T Inc. — are delivering technology
packages, including high speed Internet access, to 50,000 low-income families across the country
by 2009. Round Rock Habitat for Humanity households that participate will receive two years of
free AT&T broadband Internet access. Families will also receive a subsidized technology package that
includes a computer and desktop software. The program will also provide local families with
technology training. The AT&T-One Economy program is designed to help promote student
success. Through a home computer and AT&T Internet service, students can access homework
help and online learning resources. Older students can research college and scholarship opportunities and
parents can access community and career resources online.
GISD Village Elementary Supports
Habitat Build
Students,
teachers, staff and parents of Georgetown ISD's Village Elementary have
joined together
to help sponsor a Habitat home in Old Mill Village,
Georgetown. Old Mill Village is the 20 home
development near the Square in the heart of Georgetown.
Work days at the site specifically designed
for children (painting and landscaping) are set for January and
February. Additionally, funds
are being raised to help cover the cost of the home build.
Help support the student effort if you
are asked by a Village Elementary student to contribute to one of their
fundraisers!
Williamson County's Faith
Community Join Together To Build Habitat Home
Working together in fellowship to
help others in
their community is what the mission of Habitat for
Humanity is all about. This spring local area congregations
will come
together to make the dream
of owning their own home, a reality for a local
family. Williamson Habitat’s Building on Faith will
be begin
in February and will be building for the Liverman family! This family of four
children has
worked hard
to earn the sweat equity hours and the one wish they all share is to
have a
permanent
place to call home. “We
won’t
ever have to return these keys,” says the oldest daughter
Khristen.
More churches are
needed to make their dream a reality.
For more information of how you and
your church can be a part of the
powerful ministry, contact Brent Jenkins – (512) 863-4344.
