 Volunteering Opportunities

Construction Volunteers
                                                               
Work days are Wednesday and/or Saturday (except holiday weekends) 8:00 a.m. – 3 p.m. (arrive at 7:45 a.m. for
orientation) for projects in Georgetown.  In Round Rock, workdays are
Fridays (9 a.m. - 3 p.m.) and Saturday (8 a.m. - 3 p.m.).  Go to

to find site locations and directions.
All skill levels welcome.  If possible bring a tape measure, utility knife,
hammer, pencil, tool-belt and  gloves.  Volunteers should either bring
their lunch on build days in December 2007.

Lunch is provided on the construction site each Wednesday and Saturday
beginning January 2008.
 


ReStore Volunteers
Tuesdays - Saturdays (2 hour shifts 9 a.m. – 6:30 p.m..) 2108 North Austin Avenue, Georgetown
ReStore Facility has no central air conditioning/heating on sales floor.Closed toe shoes are
recommended. 

Office Volunteers
Mondays - Fridays (2 hour shifts 9 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
2 - 4 hour shifts
Filing, data entry, phone, mailings, etc.  Pick  the day and time that fits your
schedule.

Committee Membership
Various time commitment and meeting time
  • Site Selection – identify land on which to build Habitat homes within Williamson County
  • Partner Family Selection – review applications, interview potential partner families, and develop
Recommendation to the Board of Directors
  • Partner Family Support - organize homeowner education classes for partner families

Partner family mentors are effective in their role with the partner families
  • Finance – oversee the accounting, record-keeping, investments and reporting of financial matters
  • Marketing/Communication – develop and implement the marketing plan for the organization
  • Resource Development – develop and implement monetary and in-kind resource development
Partner Family Mentor 
2-4 hours per month for 12 – 18 months 
A mentor guides a partner family through the process of attending homeowner preparation classes, 
completing volunteer hours and the purchase of the home.  
  • Undergoing a routine background check  
  • Preferably Spanish-speaking  
  • Excellent communication skills  
  • Previous Homeownership experience  
  • Enjoys working with people
